Colour inspiration ...

image belongs to Iced VoVos

Today I'm inspired by the colour combination in this photograph I took last October when I visited the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech
... the beautiful gardens were designed by the French artist, Jacques Majorelle in the 1920's and 30's
and later owned by Yves Saint -Laurent and Pierre Bergé

The colour combination reminds me of the beautiful 'Rumina" dress created by Erdem for Fall Winter 2008, which I recently saw at the V&A Ballgown exhibition.

I wonder if Erdem was inspired by the same gardens?

Have a great Tuesday!

  1. That colour combination is really beautiful! I wish I was much better with colours than I am - I find it safer (and easier!) to stick with neutrals. That being said, I would love a knee-length, full skirt out of that first fabric :)

    1. I think a lot of people are afraid of colour Natasha ... it's just taking that first step and experimenting.
The last 2 photos are actually the same fabric ... just photographed differently! The one on the left is the back of the dress and the one on the right is the front.

  2. Such an offbeat colour combo! I can see the 1920s/1930s colours there. Sort of muted, but sort of bright at the same time.

Have just been looking at all the new fabric collections from my suppliers in the last week (all the new stuff just coming in) and these fabulous richly-muted but gentle colours are appearing more and more. xx
