Today was the Preview Collectors day, to view the exhibition and I was lucky enough to get an invitation (this was not the official invite - that one was snatched at the door and not given back!- this was the re-entry ticket).As this was my first visit it was very impressive.
Over 260 of the world's most prestigious British and international galleries were exhibited with an extraordinary selection of unique pieces, ranging from ancient Chinese ceramics to Art Deco jewellery, 20th century Design Classics, Old Master paintings and a diverse range of furniture from English formal, oak and country to painted and Continental.
These were some of my favourite sightings:
Dale Rogers Ammonite fossils were absoluteley stunning. Dale scours the world in search of rare and beautiful fossils.
The pair of ammonites are from the Jurassic period and were found in Ural Mountains, Russia (Price: A cool £3,600 )
They would make great artwork pieces on any mantel or plinth!
This beautiful black patent leather, upholstered chair from Caira Mandaglio (below), with scrolled back and ebonised feet. USA Circa 1950s
A pair of these armchair cost £8,500
I loved this quirky, very unusual horn chair from the 19th century (Price: £3,690). The dealer was not sure where it originated (most probably from Scotland), but they are rare to find in such perfect symmetry!
