Piling up

This is how I'm feeling at the moment.
Things are piling up just a tad ... the blog is being neglected and so are my visits.
so,
I need to take this week off to catch up on things.
I'll be back next week.

Thanks for understanding and have a great week everyone.

Fabulous Friday

The sun was out today, Mr N had the day off work ... and we spent a lovely day out.
I can smell scones baking in the oven for a late afternoon tea (courtesy of Mr N) and tonight we are going to see The Lovely Bones.

How has your Friday been?

Tomorrow we are go-karting ... so much fun ... with the girls!

Happy weekend everyone!

Shimmer and Shine

I am so in love with this home, designed by the Chicago designer, Kara Mann. I love the way her gutsy interiors mix modern with traditional style, with an edgy twist that leaves the expected behind.

The entrance dazzles with moire striped wallpaper, turning the hallway into a tunnel of glamour, with it's arched ceiling finished in silver leaf and sparkling crystal chandeliers.

The beautiful dining room was triggered by a hand-painted wallpaper of a tone-on-tone smoky lilac scheme and the beautiful silk rug in a textured damask pattern anchors the room.

The owners collection of Nymphenburg German porcelain.

Isn't this butlers pantry glamourous? With it's silver leafed finished vaulted ceilings.

The dreamy master bedroom, with a wall sculpture of butterflies cut from soda cans by Paul Villinski.

Damask wallpaper covered panels behind a mirrored side table.

Orange Hermes boxes really give this otherwise quiet neutral vignette a real jolt!

What do you think?
Happy Monday.

Romance was Born ...

♥♥♥

How appropriate to do a post on how Romance Was Born
especially with Valentines Day coming...

You see, it's not really a post on true romance, but
a post on a really talented duo,
Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales
who
Together, create a clothing experience.
{not for everyones taste, but they are fun and quirky}

They are the talent behind the label

They came to my attention last year during Australian Fashion Week in April
and I've wanted to do a post on them for ages.
So, today I thought it quite appropriate

plus
They have also designed an Iced VoVo inspired dress
so
I had to show you this very quirky outfit!

This label is much loved for it's original larrikin spirit
and poking a cheeky tongue at convention.
It is a true love of kitsch Australiana.

This one Cate Blanchett specifically requested, know as the 'crocheted blanket dress'
... she does have a great sense of humour and only she can pull this outfit off!

So I hope you all find a little sense of humour on Sunday, the
Day for Lovers
and

lots of love!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

How did we ever do without ...

I just received an email from Bergdorf Goodman (yes, I still receive them from my good old days in the US of A) and even though I didn't shop from there, as we lived in northern California and Bergdorfs were in New York .... it was always nice to look!

Which brings me to ... how did we ever do without all these fabulous high tech gadgets that let us download applications where we can shop 24/7 at the click of a button!

Introducing the new and latest Bergdorf Goodman application .....

Image here
You can now shop 24 hours a day... where you can purchase the latest Christian Loubs and share with friends... I mean, I'm all for wonderful applications that can help us all, but is this consumerism gone mad?

You've gotta laugh ... and oh, right .... keep up with the times!

Anthropologie

I so wanted to post these images on Monday ... but time got the better of me!
I hadn't been to Anthropologie for a while (and I missed all the post xmas sales),plus my youngest daughter needed a new coat ... so off we went to this gorgeous store for a look /see

... and look what we saw!

Isn't this chandelier stunning?

Very creative display of a bed on a floating pile of chopped wood

My middle daughter loved this bauble, felt rug/wall-hanging

lots and lots of door knobs

plaid covered drawers (quite clever if you love plaid!)

A spring theme was definitely in the air ...

and so was the nautical theme ...

All images by moi courtesy of my iphone (sorry some images are blurred)

Oh yes ... and we were successful in buying a coat there also .... on sale!

Friday dreaming ...

I've always loved real estate (it must be because I grew up in Sydney, plus its Sydneyites favourite past time!) and browsing through the local rag ... I stumbled across this beauty.

Her facade immediately caught my attention ... isn't she beautiful! She is a very rare detached period home that has been converted into three substantial flats ... with an opportunity to convert back to a single dwelling.

All images courtesy John D Woods & Co.

She's not exactly in the area we live in ... but not very far ... the only problem is the price tag.
Guide price £13,000,000
Well as I said ... one can only dream ... and what a way to end the working week!

Happy Weekend!

David Collins ... just because ...

David Collins Studio are the leading architects and designers for restaurant, interior design and luxury interior design for residential homes and commercial developments in the UK.

David Collins is one of my favourite designers here in London. I have always loved his work and have had the privilege to visit some of the restaurants and bars he has designed.

Here are a few:

Just had to add in a few images of afternoon tea at The Berkeley ...

And of course the iconic The Wolseley

David Collins home in London from here.

David Collins

The reason for this post is that we have been given some exciting news! As you all know I am doing an Interior design course and our next project is ... the opportunity to design a planning solution and scheme for the world famous The Fat Duck restaurant, which is located in Bray Berkshire, UK. It is a 3 star Michelin restaurant (the highest accolade a restaurant can receive) and there are only three others in the UK with that award!

The Fat Duck restaurant

The building is modest in size with a Georgian facade, concealing a 16th century interior.

This will be quite a challenge ..... but very exciting!

Not quite in style with Collins interiors ... but certainly a source for inspirations!
